The Westing Game

Chess Resources

Chess is a popular strategy game between two players that has been around for a very long time!  Originating in East India around the 6th Century, today, chess is a game loved around the world.  Not only is chess fun to play, but it also helps your brain (click on the picture to the right to see 10 ways that the "Game of Kings" helps to exercise your brain).  In The Westing Game one of the heirs plays chess with a "mystery person."  What's more, the game also symbolizes the strategy required to "capture" the culprit and solve the mystery!  In class, we are going to learn more about this important game and will try our hands at playing chess.  Use the resources on this page as you learn more.
